Meanwhile, Pat Brady laughs it up while the
Illinois State Central Committee
has yet to call for a special meeting
to deal with this troubling situation.
On Monday evening, the Madison County Republican Central Committee joined the going chorus of calls for Pat Brady to resign his post of Chairman with the Illinois Republican Party. Late last year it was revealed that Brady was working with Democrats to lobby Illinois state lawmakers to redefine the institution of marriage.
Here is the resolution they passed:
RESOLUTION CALLING UPON PAT BRADY TO RESIGN
HIS POSITION AS CHAIRMAN OF THE
ILLINOIS REPUBLICAN PARTY
WHEREAS, the Madison County Republican Central Committee (“MCRCC”) is the established committee of the Republican Party in Madison County, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, the MCRCC represents the voice of Republicans in Madison County, Illinois; and
WHEREAS, on June 9, 2012, the Illinois Republican Party adopted the 2012 Platform of the Illinois republican Party (“Platform”) as recommended by the Convention Committee on Platforms and Resolutions; and
WEHREAS, on or about January 3, 2013, the Chairman of the Illinois Republican Party, Pat Brady, publicly endorsed legislation pending in the Illinois General Assembly that would permit same-sex marriage in Illinois and, subsequently, personally lobbied members of the Illinois General Assembly to support said legislation; and
WHEREAS, the action s of Pat Brady in endorsing such legislation are contrary to the values and principles established for the Illinois Republican Party at its most recent State Convention; and
WHEREAS, as the Chairman of the Illinois Republican Party, Pat Brady should be advancing the values and principles of the Illinois Republican Party as set forth in its Platform rather than undermining them; and
WHEREAS, the MCRC no longer has confidence in Pat Brady to lead the Illinois Republican Party.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Madison County Republican Central Committee, that the MCRCC hereby calls upon Pat Brady to resign his position as Chairman of the Illinois Republican Party, effective immediately.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that if Pat Brady does not resign his position within the next thrity days, that the Illinois State Central Committee take action to remove him from his position at its next meeting.
